Message: Hey, I am thinkin about getting a hold of a new dakota. What I need is a good tow rig with style and within my price limit. I am thinking about a new 4.7 regular cab 4x2 5 sp. Any advice on these trucks? I have to tow around a lifted Cherokee that will soon be non street legal. I like the looks of the Dakotas and I think a lowered one with a good set of overload leafs or air bags in the rear would be sweet. Anyone think, looking for first hand experience here, a dakota will make a good daily driver/tow rig (when it has too, maybe 3 times a month or so). Thanks

Message: Step up and buy the club cab, or quad cab, better stability for towing because of the longer wheel base and yes, the 4.7 is a great motor. get the 3:92 posi rear end, 9.5 inch axle. heavy duty tow group, HD service group. and the 16" wheels. The HD tow will buy you the hitch, large brakes in rear for better stopping, and the 9.5 inch axle, along with better cooling features. The HD service is higher output alternator, large battery.

Message: I have a 2002 4.7L RC 2WD 5spd. and love it, you can not go wrong with this setup. I however suggest some of these things...
SLT+ is a must for style and those 3.92 gears is VERY worth the $40!! Don't skip out on them 3.92, specially if you are planning on towing. The limited slip differential is also a very nice touch, I think it's worth the cash to have it, but it's your choice. The only thing I missed was the HD service group because I didn't think I needed it. Oh, and the block heater isn't bad, specially for $35.
Not to mention is a quick little bastard of a truck too ;)
..and only accept invoice +incentives/bonuses.

Message: If you are going to special order, which is pretty much the only way you are going to get the truck you want, you had better do it ASAP. The last date for orders is May I believe. I tried to get the 11" rear drums and they said some crap about having an automatic was necessary. I didn't get the tow package so I am not sure if it comes with that, but I think the tow package is just a hitch and prewiring. Not sure. I would definitely recommend the HD service group, the 4.7 never runs hot and I have never heard the fan come on, so far seen days of 85 degrees. The 136amp alternator is a bad mofo, have a 600 watt amp and nothing ever dims, Older PPI, not ghetto crap. The 3.92's are great for towing and acceleration, but man, if its a long distance daily driver, 20+ miles, the gas mileage sucks. LS is a must have, controllable power slides are sweet! And don't get black!

Message: Lil BlackDak you have bigger problems than paint colors. Anyway, they don't take orders after a certain time, I thought everyone knew that. I believe it is mid may, so better be quick about it. Go thru the book with them to get what you want and then watch them enter it on the computer and double check it. Don't let them screw you.
