I'm interested in LONG tube headers. But they are outta site on the price range for a 4.7

How'd the power feel afterwards? Did you loose tons of power like some loosers around here are claiming (even though they didn't try it themselves)?

Show me the money!
Dako,
I've relocated my third cat to a dumpster, and it sounds great, little rumble, and no obnoxiously loud sound either.

Message: Todd. Are you saying that beauce you DOUBT the performance from headers and duals, or are you actually SEEKING proof because YOU want to take a chance on headers and duals as well?
I sure notice a lot of people skeptical on running duals and/or headers on a 4.7
Weird. They worked FINE on Mustangs, Crown Vics, Grand Marque's, Jaguars, etc that have FACTORY true dual exhaust on a SMALL block (4.6/5.0/5.8, etc). Some mustangs had nice factory headers too.

Message: I don't have any Chassis Dyno's, but I have the Track Dyno's. Went to JBA Shorty Headers and true duals and a pair of 24" glass packs on my 4.7L and picked up 3 full tenths in the 1/4 mile. 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile on a 4,000 lb truck at 4900 ft altitude (Pueblo, Colorado) is about 35 to 40 ponies (you know the real ones, not the chassis Dyno braggers). I'm now back in South Texas and with my set up I have some serious traction issues sitting on 295/50-16 tires. Low end torque is just great. If you aren't part girl, then the decision to go to headers and true duals should be automatic. I can see women having problems with this decision, since there are so many new shoe styles available at the mall every week to spend that few hundred dollars on.

Message: Right on OLD FOOL :)
There are so many people who just BLAST you these days for wanting the good ol' headers and True Duals on a truck. Glad you agree that you CAN get equal or BETTER performance with duals.
This is my ONLY V8 so far that has NOT had headers and Duals.
Even though I think my Dak currently sounds GOOD the way it is, near stock with a flowmaster, I KNOW I like the sound of Duals even better.
You can take 5 Dakota's and all pull into a parking lot one at a time. The one with TRUE DUALS (done right) will stand apart from the rest :) Kind of like listening to a MONO radio, then a STEREO one...
No offense to the other guys here. I just LIKE true duals.

it pulled alot better, and plus, if you combine headers with exaust, it'll sound a whole lot better.

Have you checked out the early model (2000-2002) Jeep Grand Cherokees with the 4.7 engine?
Their exhaust manifolds look much different than the ones on the Dakota 4.7s. Might just be what you're looking for, or close to it, and maybe need just a bit of tweaking to make them fit.

headers dual pipes that will join with a
crossover like the Mustang H system,
Route the pipes over and up to original
location, turn two 2 chamber mufflers
vertical and over axle and out to
right.2.5" and after break in coat the
headers and crossover pipes with thermal
paint
