I have the 5.2 also, have looked at the stock set up and see no real reason for changing. Air is forced into the opening at the grill and assures cool air into the air cleaner, so I do not see any reason to change to an open element air cleaner that sucks in warm air from around the engine. Am I missing something?

Just remove the plastic weatherplate that is behind the grille and partially blocks the air intake. It is designed to minimize bugs and water being sucked up. Then just use a drop in K&N.

I got one for my 94 Dak through Truck Perfomance. It was a CGS brand. Don't know if they still make them.
