was this a rebuilt or new motor that you were running??

i know this is a little late, but if you're breaking in a motor, you should never use a synthetic motor oil. It's great after break-in but not during.

I've always used a non-detergent 30w oil for initial break-in. I've also heard using Rotella is good for it's high zinc content. Helps the bearings and cam lobes.

Hey guys finally got the short block and I am going together with it. I bought the cometic head gaskets from Hughes and noticed the brass rivet that holds the MLS gasket together sits between the head and the block where the crank sensor is, so that has to be cut off. They also told me the top of the gasket has to be bent over under the intake. Anyone use these?

Carmen, I end up going with a 5.9 MP ECU so I am worried about running rich with the larger injector but the more I keep adding to this engine the more it looks like I will need larger injectors. The 22.5 I have now, I bought from bruce at five0, about a year ago. They are suppose to flow around 24lbs but you know how that goes.

Hey yall,
Finally got everything together and running. I love it and it gets better every 100 miles. I have a thousand on the new motor and my fuel economy is 13.7-14.5 so far with an auto 4 speed with lockup and 3.55 gears but isn't that insanely good for a 360 with these mods?
I am well pleased with the 2228 Hughs cam, although it doesn't look like the sleeper I intended to have since the whole truck shakes dramatically while sitting at lights.

However I am still wanting more. When I am at a stop and go to WOT, I should be able to melt the tires, but, it feels like there is lag. From a roll the truck is about as bad as I hoped and with my drive train it pulls hard at 120+ MP. I also have a surging when coming to a stop or when I let of the brake from an idle. I doesn't do it if I am at dead stop or I throw it in neutral and snap the throttle once.

As for the next mod which would be best a better TB or 30lbs injectors?
