Message: I'm pretty sure the 4.7 uses the same thermostat as the 5.2/5.9/3.9 magnums. Call the dodge dealer in the AM and ask if they interchange. If so, you can get one just about anywhere.

Brent, know what you're talking about before you post, sheesh!
Have you installed a 4.7, 180 t stat?
I have.
Same stat as the magnum, no longer made, single cams, IE, 5.9, 5.2, 3.9.
Search the archives, for some great tips on this, O/W, sounds like you'll screw the pooch just installing a t stat.

Message: I also installed a 180* 5.2/5.9 thermostat in my 00 4.7L.. it's EASY! all you have to do it cut a small notch in the outer edge of the new thermo, and drill a small (1/8") bleeder hole and your done... once you remove the old thermostat, you will see how big the notch has to be.. It MUST be notched to fit the re-useable gasket on the 4.7L.
I'm pretty sure that the nuts are 5/16 on the thermostat housing. note that when you remove the housing, the thermostat will likely be STUCK to the engine block.. it's not stuck really tight, but it takes a little force.. Once you breal the seal, about a gallon of coolant INSTANTLY drains from the engine! Yeah, I found that out the hard way.. I took a bath in anti-freeze :-P
If you want, I can post the Napa part# that I used for my stat..

Message: Awesome! Glad to hear it went off without a hitch :-)
Isn't it GREAT not to have to scrape a gasket? The 4.7L's good for that!
