Message: I was told to take my K&N air filter out of my 2001 Dodge Dakota 4.7l because the oil from the filter will contaminate an air sensor. The oil gets on the sensor and then dirt is attracted to the sensor and causes insulation barrier. Any hear about this?

Message: who told you this? I think the K&N web site says this can happen if the filter is over-oiled.

Message: That was a common problem with Chevrolet cars where people over oiled the filter and oil got sucked up and messed up a sensor. K&N filters come pre-oiled and when it comes time to clean your filter follow the instructions and you will never have a problem.

Message: Yes it could be a problem if we had mass air sensors in our snorkles But we don't.SOOOO it is not really a problem.Generic Motors and I believe
Ferd use Mass air sensors they could have problems
if the wire gets oil on it.

Message: I agree. Don't worry about it with the Dodge Truck. That situation doesn't really apply to us but still don't over oil the filter.

Message: I only have problems with my cold air intake when it rains. I drive an 06 f-150. & since installing the intake ive experienced nice hp gains but a continuing fear of rain. with this intake ive been stranded on the road 5 times & the laughing stock of my buddies at work. my truck is currently in the shop having a MAF sensor replaced. don't get me wrong I like my kn but I hate being broke down. Im goin to put my stock intake back on unless I can find a way to fix this prob. I know its not fro over oiling ive been using kn filters for 15 years with 0 problem. does any one have any ideas or heard of any fixes?
