Subject: Important Air Filter question!! IP: Logged
Message: I bought an airaid open air system for my 4.7L and the K&N filter they shiped is a K&N RU-3130. Its long and narrow opposed to shorter and wide...it fits ok but i want to know if this filter is ok for the 4.7L engine size wise etc. any help appreciated. I dont want to wreck anything by using the wrong size filter thanks!!!

Message: I got it all straightened out. The people who sent me my open air intake setup shipped the wrong filter. They sent the long narrow cone filter, this is the one I needed (which I now got) thanks! In case anyone is interested, the part number for this is K&N RC-5040 and it fits nicely on the 4.7

Message: thank goodness you got that all straightened out. without a doubt, running with that longer, skinnier filter would have totally blown your engine and caused thousands and thousands of dollars of damage and an incalculable number of deaths and dismemberments. Bless you Franko, Bless you.... You may have just save the world...

Message: Yo Franko, don't you just love the a holes on this site. I'd just love to smack "smartarse" right in his mouth. Or just break a few fingers so he can't type anymore. He'd be "hunting and pecking" or is that huntin peckers? What a fag.

Message: glad that is taken care of. How much did that set-up set you back? Who recomended that also. I would think you would go with a full K&N set-up. With my Airaid I noticed more than a 10% mpg gain. just the filter and 3" cat.

Message: I picked up the airaid setup on ebay for 25 bucks (new) and the filter from a PartSource store for 42.95. The whole setup cost me less than 70 bucks..

Its works well with my cat back 2.5" dual stainless w/Magnaflow muffler.

Message: The K&N FIPK is 300+ bucks...this setup was less than 70...and does pretty puch the same thing. (I'm sure that will be argued) but for me, it was a money thing. So far no complaints...

Message: I have heard yeahs and nahs on K&N.
I am considering doing something for my 4.7 Dak QC
Did your modified Air Raid do the trick for you?
Does it make more noise than the stocker?
