Subject: Lubricants for 4.7 Dak IP: Logged
Message: hi,
I've just looked into replacing the tranny fluid and differential
fluids on my 2000 4.7L Dak. It's a 2WD Club Cab with a manual
tranny. I believe it's a 3500 tranny and a 3.73 rear end.
Any suggestions on lube weight and whether I have to use a
lubrication modifier would be most helpful. Amsoil equivalents
appreciated.

Message: My '01 4.7 RC 2wd 5-spd 3:92 LSD uses Mobil1 5w30 in the 4.7, Mopar manual fluid, and Amsoil synthetic rearend fluid. Some of the posters here didn't like the feel of Amsoil manual fluid, so I went status quo factory at 100K. The Amsoil syn. rear is awesome, however: no friction modifier necessary, 75K drain interval, and minor MPG gain to boot. Your rear end gear ratio is found on the label in the glove box, most likely either 3:55 or 3:92.

Message: Oops. You're right, it's a 3:92 rear. Thanks for the info.
