Subject: No fuel pressure IP: Logged
Message: Hi there i have a 96 Dakota V-8 318 and it will not have a fuelpressure.I start to look at fuse and relay but it seems to be fine and the next thing i do was to look at the fuel pump and it do not work with the switch to run or start but when i am wiring starigt to the pump it works fine.I have no manual or wiring diagrams and i am almost given up of this car and took it to carshop and they have been trying to find out for 4 days with no results.I am worry about the bill they send me so please if anyone here can help me please send me a mail on gummifalk@simnet.is or contact me at msn at falk65@hotmail.com

Message: Just want to thank Rob C for his reply and first thing to do in morning is go to Service shop and show them that and i hope if it is the problem i will not have to pay too much because i came in to servise shop and fix it by my self

Message: That fixed the problem almost but i have to connect to another earth because the computer do not give earth to the pump and i connect a new wire.But now fuelpump will run when the ac is switced on and not stop so i have to start the car and take care of not let the switch stand on ac.Anyone know whats wrong if i find no earth.

Message: I don't have a wiring diagram but, I would have thought that would fix your problem. Maybe the repair shop damaged something while troubleshooting. I found this thread here, it may contain information you can use to troubleshoot:

Message: Have fix the problem 100%.Found a wire harness leftside from computer going down beside the firewall and those wire was loose and stuck beetween exhaust and firewall and burn and melting down by exhaust but i have to cut it of about 1/2 feet and replace that part and it was a quite a work to splice it all to gether again but engine runs fine but a litle to fast in free idle.
