Message: I have a 2000 4.7 w/nv3500 5sp. What can I use other than the dodge speced fluid?

Message: Redline's 'MTL' gear lube is a little thicker than the Mopar's NV3500 fluid but works fine, even in below freezing temps.
Which ever you choose, dont use motor oils, manual transmissions require friction modified fluids
for proper synchro operation. Avoid 'GL5' oils too, those are meant for diffs with some additives that might damage synchros, look for 'GL4' specs like the MTL.

Message: Pennzoil's Syncromesh is the equivalent to the factory NV3500 fluid too.
