Subject: Super LOUD muffler? IP: Logged
Message: Right now I have a 97 cc 5.2 dak 4x4 and I already have a original 40 series Flowmaster dumped under the bed and I like it ok. But I also know that a delta flow would sound more powerful and smoother. What I want though is something that sounds very deep, powerful and super loud. I have read about the flowmaster super 40 delta flow, but I'm also thinking about the delta force series flowmaster. Does anyone have one of these and do you like it, what does it sound like, etc?

Message: Me thinks that he doesnt want decibles, he wants a deep and throaty exhaust note... heres one that'll void yer warranty, and expell you from any emissions testing.... take off your y pipe....its the one with the catalytic coverters... now, get a big steel rod... and you should see where this is going... did it on my R/T, and it also improved acceleration, but hurt my MPG a little. the precats I'd just punch a 1/2 inch hole through the middle, the post cat ( the one not surrounded by O2 sensors) Knock the living crap out of it, and get all that junk out of there. the hole somewhat fools the O2 sensors into thinking that the cat is still functioning, since some of the gasses are still passing through cat material, then hitting the O2, while most of the gas shoots through the middle and past the O2 before it can get a decent measure.
other options are to go to a larger diameter pipe, some places even sell non cat y pipes with headers, which is another option, since the cast manifolds ( do 4.7's have manifolds or headers) seal in a lot of noise, and thin walled headers allow a lot more noise under hood... getting a turn down tail pipe is another option.... one thing not many people think of, is under acceleration, most of the true tone you hear is actually intake noise, so a cold air kit can increase the sound too...

Message: yea i replaced my muffler with a super 40 and it sounds nice but i wish when i opened her up, it would be a little louder. it sounds good up to 2500 but after that pretty much all i hear is intake. i think if i had a catback with bigger tips then it would be louder but im savin up for other things rite now. o yea, and mines a 5.2 too.

Message: Oh i forgot to mention i have already cut the cat completely and put on an O2 sim in place of the rear O2. Its loud now but i want super loud, powerful and deep sounding. My cousin put a spintech on his 01 r/t and cut the cat and it doesn't sound very good, may be because of the no cat. I don't have to worry about the warranty and i have a "person" for the inspection thing so.... Thanks for the ideas guys but does this spark any new ones?
