Subject: rpm fluctuation IP: Logged
Message: When at hwy speeds(75-80 2200 rpm) the rpm will all of the sudden go up about 200 rpm and then come back down to normal. It seems to do this more when in cruise, but it will do it other times also. With your foot on the throttle you cant feel the throttle move when in cruise and it doesnt seem like its the tranny slipping. Or is it? Anybody had this happen?

Message: I had that problem and was advised to change the throttle position senser. I changed it, and all is well. Part was about $30 at Napa.

Message: I too noticed the jump in RPM's at the speeds you stated with my 99 5.2 4X4 auto, while towing a car on the NY thru way, and on the return trip without anything in tow. There are two things that came to mind when this happened, the OD was acting up (new last year) or the converter was un-locking.
