Subject: Gibson Rattle Sound???
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2000 cc with the 4.7 I have a CatCo high flow cat, and a Gibson single side exit system. When I rev the motor in park, and especially under a load(there must be something beside you to here the sound bounce off) you here a rattle/reverb noise. You also here this while the motor is slowing down from being reved up. I have checked for any contact with the truck, and it is a new cat so it is not rattling. Is the sound just the Gibson, or is there an air leak??? The system sounds great up to about 2500rpm.

2000 cc 4.7
Gibson Single Exit, CatCo Cat, IAT, TPS 7.4v, 275/60-15's, and other minor "tweaks"

Check your heat shields, sometimes they work loose. Also check all the joints in the system. After several months I developed a rattle with my Gibson where the new pipe connects with the old, between the cat and muffler. A little muffler tape and an exhaust clamp placed over the joint fixed the problem.

I also had the problem with the clamp coming loose where the old pipe meets the new. I welded that connection to fix it. I also had a problem with a broken hanger, check those also.

The rattle sound is actually coming through the tail pipe. Not just hearing it while standing next to the truck.
