well look at this... the 5.2-5.9 Magnum has been around since 1992 and just now is getting edelbrock cylinder heads.

only reason pistons, rods and that sort are already around for the Magnum is because the close relation to the LA motors..

I read that the new 6.1 will have the displacement on demand... just not right away. But Chrysler is going to try to make it the first production vehicle in the US to be produced for the mass market.

But for now I think I am going to have to give up on that. The 5.9 will be a much easier transplant and I could possibly turbo charge it much easier also. But does anybody make a manual tranny for this??? I know I am going to have to change the rear end too, but I am going to get that out of a junk yard and swap the gears.

does anyone know if the bell housing from a 4.7 with a manual tranny will fit a 5.9?

So you guys think DCis going to sell a one off 6.1 hemi when they are barely into production for the Challenger and SRT-8? Bizarre. You can buy a 5.7 hemi from dodge with either injection or carbs. Anyone considering the injected motor is nuts - you need the computer and NOBODY has yet been able to crack the programming language dodge used and dodge isn't giving it out. So you are stuck with a motor programmed for a dodge ram, and it ain't gonna run too good for you. The computer for the hemi basically resets itself to original parameters no matter what you try to do so no big HP gains from playing. Every blower company has about given up putting together a hemi kit, the chip/computer programmers don't work worth a crap.

Considering a hemi like the 426? Ridiculous. It will shoehorn into the chassis, but everything else will be a nightmare for even a pro shop. Forget it.

I personally would recommend building the 4.7 engine. Blowers and everything are available to fit, easy to do and relatively cheap - especially when compared to hemi parts. Or buy a 360 builtup block and use factory dak parts.

thanks for the info... I think I am just going to build up a 5.9 or a 4.7 for now and wait for more stuff to come about for the hemi. If I build the 5.9 or 4.7 right, I could turbo charge it... providing I can ever find a turbo kit for the damn thing. I know the 4.7 would be a lot better on gas than the 5.9... But which one has more stuff out for it and would be cheaper to build up?

I am kinda new to the whole mopar thing... I had one before but all it did was break down (99ram). I tried to stay away from them but this one was at a good price.

What are some good sites to get parts from that would be pretty cheap?

My 438 didn't sell, so I'll be swapping it into my 2001 quad cab when I'm done with my other projects. It' #3 on the list so it'll be a couple of years down the road. I think it'll make a real nice tow rig...
