Subject: 44R? IP: Logged
Message: what transmission is in the 94 rams? i know its a A518, but i dont know if its a 46RH or 46RE. im wondering, because im gonna buy a 94 ram a518, but i dont know which one it is. and another thing, if it is the 46RE, what do i need to do to convert it to 44RH?

Message: It's the 46RH. The RE came in 1996. The 44 series is smaller and has lower torque capacity. Stay with the A518/46RH.

Message: i found small brass pieces in my tranny pan. what can cause that. no slipping, no burning fluid. just shifts gears really early no matter where the tv cable is..

Message: Either the R or H at the end of a transmission code states whether the transmission is electronically or hydraulically controlled. Check in the glovebox, it should say for sure, but if I had to guess I'd say probably 44RH.
