Subject: ABS/BRAKE light?
IP: Logged

Message:

I have a 2000 4.7 and BOTH are on. Just turned on yesterday. What could cause this, and what should i look for? The e-brake isnt on. Maybe a sensor died. The pads should be fine, replaced 6 months ago.
Thanks,
-Mike

Most likely rear wheel speed sensor(ABS sensor). Located on the rear axle "pumkin".

yup RaZoR1 is right it will cost you about 35$ (if you do it yourself)
you will aslo notice your speedometer acting funny and your truck might die at idle but replacing the sensor will cure all this trust me:)

Ahhhh, but there is an even more simple cause. Pop the connector off the ABS controller under the hood. Mine went on with a few hundred miles. Turned out some water somehow made its way into the connector and on went the light. Seems Dodge saves a few bucks by not putting dialectic grease in its electrical connections.

Blow out the water, squeeze in a little dialectic grease, and no more problems.

Had the same thing happen, and it was a blown fuse. Could be any of these things.

Could someone tell me how to replace this abs/speed sensor? I guess it is located near the wheels somewhere but I really don't know where to begin to look for it or how to fix it. Thanks in advance.
