Message: yeah, mines a 01 R/T, the balancers coming loose, vibrations aren't too bad yet, but it seems to be getting worse every week. replacements are pretty damned expensive too, around 100 for stock ( yeah, I'm gonna throw another one of those pieces of junk on there!) or aftermarket ones for around 300. Mine, and all of the (i think) 99 and later are a one piece unit, with the crank belt pulley mounted to it, so, I need to replace my balancer, at 300, and get pulleys, for around 130.
whats your's doing?

Message: yeah, thats what mines doing too, its starting to wiggle back against the block, mines moved about 1/8 from where its supposed to be. mine has 64K miles. the part is similar for our vehicles, if you have the 5.2, its the same setup as on my 5.9 liter. I've posted earlier about this, just to get some input. not too many people seem to be having this issue, but if yours has pushed up against the block, its not right, but it may not make any noise.... ask them to show you it, they should be able to take you into the shop with it up on a lift and show you whats going on... I work as a technician, and I always make the extra effort on ladies cars just to make them more comfortable with what I'm doing, just so they dont feel how you are, that Im trying to "take advantage" of a girl... you can always get a second opinion too, but I'll tell you, the best indicator (this is how I found out about mine) is to use a timing light, which I'll explain ( cause your a girl! :) works off the spark plug wire to flash a light on the balancer to tell where ignition timing is located... on our trucks, there is no true way to mechanically advance timing, only electronic methods through moving sensors or reprogramming the computer... anyway, hooking up a timing light and flashing it on the balancer, you should see a line on the balancer with the no. 1 spark wire, and it shouldn't seem to move. mine jumps around showing a range of almost ten degrees of movement.
Do you notice any vibration or unusual shaking at idle? thats another good indication that its failing out. IF it comes down to replacing, try www.moparpartz.com they have really good deals on new factory parts, just be sure you have someone that can install, or that the shop you choose will allow you to use "outside" parts, since some places only want you to use their suppliers so they can get the parts mark up price on you...
