Subject: whistling noise IP: Logged
Message: I just bought an '02 4.7L Sport/Quad-cab w/tow package w/30K miles. When the engine gets warm, (about 15 mins. of driving) a loud whistling noise starts from under the hood. Could it be a bad bearing in a pulley assembly? I don't feel any loss of power and don't think it's from the vacuum system. There doesn't seem to be any adverse affect on the performance of the truck..so far. Any Ideas? Thanks

Message: check the air filter it could be dirty or it has a k&n filter, that will suck more air and make noise or someone put one of those tornado things in it (they dont work)! OR you have an air leak in the intake plennum. good luck.

Message: The shaft bearing in the water pump will sometimes make a whistling noise (sometimes loud) just before your water pump goes out.

Message: Yeah my R/T makes a loud whistling noise...then I pop the hood and something is stuck on top of the intake manifold it says Kenne Bell on it. I guess 10lbs of boost you may get a little whistle.
