I haven't installed such a transmission, but I have removed and reinstalled the original tranny on a '97 5.2 4x4.

Tips huh? I did the whole thing just a few months ago, was really the first time I'd ever done tranny work before. I basically just walked myself through it and learned a TON in the process. If I could offer a few tips it would be these.

1.) Get at least one friend to help
2.) Be 110% sure you get the torque converter completely seated into the new transmission. There should be approx. 1/8" gap between the bolt holes in the torque converter and the flexplate. Be sure you get the bolts torque correctly (very difficult in a tight area.)
3.) If you've never done anything like this before, don't even think about starting without some kind of manual.
4.) Be ready to have a lot of scraped up knuckles when you get done :)
