i have a 01-4.7L dakota,& i have noticed a very bad idling problem sometimes, maybe 1 or 2 times a week the rpm's will drop way down & truck will hardly run, then it will straighten out and be fine!!! i have read about the I.A.C. being bad maybe ??? has anyone else had this problem ???? thanks for any info.....

I have a 2001 4.7 V8 with the same problem. It only happens occasionally. Seems to happen more with cheap gas. Mine has done this since new. I took it to the dealer while under warranty and they told me it was my K&N filter. Only problem was, it did it before I put the K&N filter on. I now have 80,000 miles on it with no additional problems. I would love to know what causes this too.

i have a 97 5.2 and mine has done this for a while now but after it happens when i drive it kind of boggs down and i have to floor it to get it going and ive taken it in to get it fixed where they told me i needed a major tune up. it didnt do it for a while but it is doing it again now and i dont know what to do.

Have you guys tried cleaning TB and IAC ? Might also be related to a bad TPS sensor.
