Hey all, has anyone here replaced there stock halogen bulbs with these "HID" type bulbs. I saw the SilverStar HID bulbs that are supposed to be pretty good, the 9007's are about 40 bucks ea. Is anyone here running these or anything like them and what is your oppinion? Are they worth it?

i can't even tell the difference between regular bulbs and the sliverstar. I also baught the silverstar bulbs for my fog lights and they both burnt out within a week. The regular lghts are still working though after about 6 months.

Sylvania Silverstar bulbs are the best. In my opinion. There is a bigger difference in light color and quality. I didnt mind paying 40 for this bulbs. Try installing one and leaving one oem. Have your truck in the garage and turn out the lights. Then switch you headlights and look at your wall, big difference. One is bright white (not ricey blue) and the other oem is yellow. I had these bulbs in my 2000 and switched them over to my 04 and still running strong. Bought a pair for my bud for xmas with his extaust package. No problems with his either. You sure they were silverstars and the correct model, are far as I know Sylvania doesn't support genIII's fog light bulbs (881), I checked with the company. They only have the 880ST. But that assuming you have a genIII.

I'd have to agree about silverstars. Best 40 bucks I've ever spent on lights so far. I drive on some very dark country roads where deer are a big concern, and after almost hitting one from lack of light I got those bulbs and can now see about a half mile or so clearly.

I also run the Sylvanias, they are 10x better than the stock lights! If you want to save a few bucks they sell for between $25-30 on ebay.

The silverstar bulbs are the brightest you can buy, I have a set in my diplomat and they were like night and day.
I would like to know if anyone did the real HID bulb conversion to our trucks, they cost about 400 bucks.
I have a 94 dak and dont like the beam pattern from the stock bulb and wonder if it will change with the conversion...

I installed a set of Pia xtreme white plus bulbs into my dakota because the truck is dangerously under candle powered (design of lense I think)They cost 100$ on sale!!. They work much better than stock but because of the price next timeI would buy sylvania xtra vision, they have the same candle power as the silverstars but last 3 times longer and cost around 12$ (they don't have as bright of light but close to both the pia and silverstar. I have the xtra vision 9007 bulbs in my grand prix and they work great a big improvement.

Does anybody actually sell a REAL HID conversion for the GenIII dak's? The silverstar bulds you guys are talking about are Xenon (sp?) gas bulds. Instead of using Halogen gas in the buld, they use Xenon gas, which lets the filament burn much brighter and last much longer. Which is all well and good, but HID lights are totally different...and cost a bundle. They arent just light bulds you can buy and swap in, they are a totally differnet setup. Youll need to replace your entire bulb cluster pod thing, they use balast and some other funky stuff, theyre out there. I want some off-road HID lights...super duper bright. Not sure if you knew this or not, just giving some input :)

I came across this wiring harness on Ebay, I do not know if its worth a darn or what bulbs you would use with it though.
