Message: probably around 15.6, depending on your rear.
get some HO cams, and a lower rear,
and get a decent Throttlebody, some headers, intake,
but to really increase your quarter time, get a Super Charger, thats bolt on.

Message: If your one of the lucky ones with the 5 speed stick and can shift good you should already be in the low 15's. The auto's are slower. My 02 reg. cab 2wd 4.7 auto runs 15.50's. Traction is biggest problem with the crazy wheel rearend. If you don't already have sure grip get it. Any mods you do won't be realized if you spin the right wheel half way through the 1.8th. And if you install sure grip might as well go with some 3.92's or lower.

Message: Hey Gary, check out how I mounted those helper springs at my website. That will eliminate all the wheel hop, for about $30.

Message: V8,
Are those mounted on the front of the diff.?, that's what I heard worked well, for low $. Hard to tell at a glance on your pick.

Message: Texas Todd, I'm going to guess that those helper springs are mounted in front of the diff. v8 says in his list of mods "reversed helper springs" and normally helper springs are mounted the other way.
Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have an old set of helper springs in the garage somewhere. Nice web site v8. Our trucks are nearly identically equipped from the factory, although I have no power accessories. (windows, locks, etc.)

Message: You are correct. Those helper springs are "supposed" to be mounted behind the axle, but putting them in front of the axle works brilliant. No wheel hop in the rain, or on dry pavement. It doesn't seem to change the ride any. A guy I work with and go to the track with has like thousands of little tweaks that cost very little, or no money, told me to try those springs when I told him how bad my wheel hop was.
I should post some diff pics of those spring on my site.

Message: I know I dont have a 4.7 but mine stock ran a 15.5 and then with a muffler back system and a K&N FIPK It ran a 15.33 @ 88 mph with a 1200 rpm launch. If i went more it would wheel hop with the sure grip I also have 3.55 If I had 3.92s I would be a 15.0 for sure with a decent launch. Plus 4.7s weigh less than I do...lol I got a lucky 5.2L

Message: Cool. I just bought my first digital camera right before I did the swap, so I took a lot of pics. The swap is pretty easy if you are comfortable with pulling off a valve cover basicly. By the way, those pics are when that engine had 80,000 miles on it, last 50,000 with synthetic. Now has 97,000, just shot my first couple blasts of nitrous at the track the other night, 14.03 @ 99.7mph. Not bad for a daily driver.
