What can be done to firm up shifts on the 4speed auto behind a 360. I don't want really strong shifts just want them to be more "positive" if thats the right word. Thanks for any and all help.

Get a Transgo shift kit and make sure you adjust the line pressure and install the resistor that comes with the kit ... works great for a 46RE (1999 360 trans)

If you adjusted your bands, and made sure your T.V. (throttle valve) cable was right.. That would go a long ways towards improving your shifts..

But if you want them really solid, you'll need a shift kit.. I installed a Transgo kit in mine..And they can be made to shift as firm as you want.. They will give you warning and recommendations about certain adjustments being for "racing only"..

When I did mine, I even increased the converter lock up pressure.. Now, when the converter goes into lock.. It hits like a 5th gear..

It's not that hard, but not particularly easy either..

When you drop the valve body, there is a "park rod" that kind of awkward to get to.. It has an E-clip that has to be removed, and later re-installed..

It took right at 9 quarts to refill after the shift kit install..
