hey guys, I have done a search and no answers.I have a 2002quad cab 4.7 45rfe 4x4.The problem is when stopped at a light or stop sign, transmission in drive, then letting off the brake and not stepping on the gas, my truck starts to creep forward but it is shaking or bucking forward until I step on the gas. This also does this in reverse. It has been doing this off and on now for about two years.I just changed the trans fluid and both filters and no help.Dealer sais that it is really not a problem. the idle on my truck seams ok,the normal for the 4.7. I have cleaned the throttle body twice, changed the plugs and air filter. I have 36,000 miles. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!!!!!

It may be the brakes "grabbing" as they're releasing. Does it still do it with your foot completely off the brake pedal?

same problem here man...2000 4.7 with 97k miles on it. however, mine seems to "nudge" when I'm at a stop WITH my foot on the brake. I've done research on this board and it seems like many others having the same problem. I do have another problem while coming to a stop and accelerating out of one that does seem to feel like the brakes "grabbing." but the dealer says the brakes are fine. I've been into three different tranny places with 3 different answers. One says my tranny is shot...the other could feel a "Slight" problem like I was describing but wouldn't know unless they rebuild it and then the dealer says there's no tranny codes popping up and they also re-programmed my shift points. I'm wondering if it is my tourque converter because when climbing up the steep highways here in Utah my engine just dives way low in the rpm range after it kicks down a gear...I've heard it described as the "phantom fifth gear." I have a dual exhaust so I can really hear when this happens...then it'll just jump back down a gear. I have to have it pinned so it doesn't do it anymore...and all of this is while having the O/D off.

Hey guys, just came back from the transmission shop and they told me that it is definitaly not the trans. He thinks it is the crappy idle. The wierd thing is is that with the temperature up around 45 degrees, it seems to idle a little better. Like I said before. I have cleaned the throttle body but I have not taken off the iac or the tps sensors to clean them. Does any body think this will help the idle issue and or the shaking or bucking issue?

My 02 with 100K + does the same don't worry about just keep your foot on the brakes. I think the ECM is so sensitive that the timing is changing because of the slight load from rolling if you hold the brake it is a steady load. Does this make sense?

hemiman, yeah the dealer told me some story about the load on the engine. This may be true but I don't think that my truck should do this!!While my truck was in at the dealer the last time for this problem they thought that it was a problem with the steering or they felt a different problem with the steering.Anyway they ended up replacing the whole rack & pinion components, now when driving in a straight line, the steering wheel is sometimes off to the left and sometimes off to the right. I don't know what the f#@% is going on!!!!
