Is there a rev limiter for this engine and if so, at what RPM does it kick in? I unintentionaly redlined the engine in 2 gear in the 6500-7000RPM range for a few seconds. Have I damaged the engine, maybe floated a valve?

Does the engine run the same? If so it's probably fine. Floating the valves is just a term for the valve staying open when it's not supposed to be because of over revving. It takes a little strength from the valve springs but usually don't cause breakage. I redlined my old 318 many times. Owned it for 12 yrs. and no problems. Dodge's are tough. Can't say for certain about the rpm limiter. I've never had my 4.7 over 5500. Now DON'T DO IT AGAIN!!

my 00 is limited at about 6200 RPMs... The 4.7L likes the revs, so you didn't hurt it :-) Just dont make a habit out of it... I doubt that the 4.7 will float valves untill the 7k+ range, it has an excellent valve train for a stock engine. I have only had mine up to the limiter a few times, I just wanted to find the limiter :-P it sure sounded cool singing that high.
