That's not a stock ratio, so there's no driven gear replacement. You'll have to reprogram the computer.

.bob jumped to conclusions. Did you also switch tires? Because if you have 32's, you can get the spedo gear for the 3.55 and 215/75 R15 setup. They are the exact same. And with 33's the 3.55 and 235/75 R15 setup will get you close enough.

If not, go to your dealer and ask what the # of teeth on the spedo gear for the 3.55 rearend and 235/75R15 and then ask for the 3.92 gears with the same tire size. Then do a little math to figure the # of teeth you would need for the 4.1's

I recently changed tires and the dealer had a listing for my setup. When I was changing the spedo gear, I was looking at the gear houseing, and it can accomidate quite a few different gear sizes. I'm sure the one you need will be available.

I have a 2WD - 29" 235/75 R15 tires are as big as I can get w/o rubbing the fronts in a turn (they rub a little now) so getting larger tires wont work for me. I'll do some phone callin and some math - wouldnt the 3.92 speedo tranny teeth be fairly close to what I'd need anyway. My sticker inside the door says stock wheel size for my '93 2WD is a meeger P195/75R15. Can ya believe that?
THX for the help!!!

The speedo pinion for the 3.92 should be close since you have bigger tires. At least it's gonna be alot better than you have now.

nick-
Did you have 3.92 stock? I can see your speedo being close to no change with a change of 3.92 to 4.10. What is your year of truck? I have a genll ('93) went from 3.55 to 4.10 and like I said earlier - there is a definate change in my speedo - You like them 4.10's dont ya!!

On the '98 and newer truck the spedo uses a wheel sensor, so you can change gears without changing the spedometer reading

For the '93, the sensor is before the rearend, and therefor any change gearing or tires requires a new spedo gear

I also noticed in overdrive (auto) that my tach and speedo read the same as it did before I changed the rear end. Roughly 2200 RPM is 70 MPH whether I had 3.55 or 4.10. Got me wondering how my '93 actually works.

93superdak,

After you installed the gears, when your spedometer said 70, you were actually only going 61.

old was 2200 @ 70
new was 2200 @ 61
