Message:
I have a 2002 4,7 on my dakota and a Paxton supercharger will be installed soon and I want to know on which cylinder I have to install my EGT guage. Habitually one of the eight cylinder will be more hot than others. I would like to know which one it is because I want to install my EGT on it.

Thanks

accually you have to drill into one of your exhaust manifolds and put the EGT probe in there.it dont go into one of your cylinder.

Yes I know that but which one of my exhaust manifold I have to drill??
I have talked to a friend, he tell me that the exhaust temp is not the same between each cylinder. He tell me to install it on the hottest one

speaking out my butt here....

why don't you put the probe in the collector if you have shorty headers??? You'll get all four...

Otherwise.....buy a laser thermometer and check each cylinder....

Your friend is right, no two temps are the same, but Last_username is also right in that you should place it near where the tubes come together. And if you insist on using only one cylider, the laser thermometer is a great idea.

The temps should be pretty close. If they are alot different, you may have other problems, like low compression or a bad injector or sparkplug.

Drill the manifolds for all eight, move the sensor around until you find the hotest one!
OR you could invest in a data logger which would have input for all eight at all times.
