Subject: Keep or ditch the HO manifold?? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 4.7 RC 5 speed 2wd 3.93 LSD. I have the HO cams, Ho manifold, headers, exhaust. I am getting ready to lift the truck and put 33's on it. Should I switch back to the stock manifold? Will it make much difference on the torque. The truck has enough torque now to roast the 30" tires that are on it now. Plus, after the lift and 33's, some 4.56 gears will be going in. Suggestions?

Message: Why don't you just try it? It will probably be fine. Especially if you go with 4.56's.

Message: You should do a search for other people's experiences and recommendations to know for sure which way you should go.
My understanding from what I have read here is.
- 2003 factory 4.7 engines and beoynd come with the HO manifold.
- The HO manifold gives a better HP improvement with the HO cams at peak HP RPMs.
- The stock 2002 and below manifold give better TQ improvement than the HO manifold.
- The HO manifold is biased toward HP rather than TQ.
What do you want the engine to give you? More grunt to go/move (TQ) or do you need a better top speed (HP)?
