 Subject: Leaky Rack n Pinion

I have a 2000 Dakota with the 4.7, 4x4. At 60k miles I had the whole rack n pinion replaced under warranty because it was leaking...the only part to date ever to be replaced on my truck other than wear n tear items. Now, at 97k miles the rack is leaking like crazy! I brought it to the dealer and they told me my gearbox is leaking and it'll cost 1,100 bucks to fix. Needless to say I'm pissed...I want to know if anyone else has had problems with a leaky rack AND is this is job I can do myself? I'd imagine that most of the $1,100 figure is for labor...I didn't ask how much the parts cost.
