Subject: HORRIBLE LUCK!! IP: Logged
Message: Long story short, I spent 36 total hours removing, rebuilding, and reinstalling my transfer case and transmission(nv3500) this weekend. To elaborate a little more I spent Sat. 2pm to sunday morn. 9 am. rebuilding the t-case and installing everything. I get it finished and the tranny is stuck in neutral, I have my uncle, a very knowledgable mopar man, take a look at it and he gets it to go into gear. He tells me to take it home and if I have any trouble call him. I start driving and 1st & 2nd gear are making noise, not good noise, I keep with it get her in 3rd and it sounds perfect. I'm doing about 35mph and out of the blue the hood fly's up bends in half dents the roof and cracks the windshield. I'm momentarily blind, can't see through the cowl area, get the truck stopped and luckily didn't hit anyone... Needless to say I still have to pull the tranny find out whats wrong if it presents itself and get a new hood(AAR fiberglass) windshield and fix the roof... When it rains it poors. What a bitch, eh?

Message: That blows. If it aint one thing, its another.
On the upside, at least you get a cool new hood and a clearer windshield...
What happened with the hood - did the latch let go or did you just not close it correctly? My girlfriend GrandCherokee had the hood blow up at highway speeds one day - Boy, was she freaked out...Apperently her latch need some lube and didnt function properly causing the hood to just pop up once some wind got under it...

Message: I'll admit I remember the not being closed all the way(the primary latch) but I've worked on my truck every weekend for the past month and am absolutly positive without a doubt that the secondary latch was working properly and now it's totally seezed. I was so excited not to have to pull it out again after it started shifting that I forgot the hoods primary wasn't latched... Bites the big one but what can you do? Found out that I put the Shift Shaft in 180 degrees from correct and the detent ball isn't holding the shift forks in place... Lesson learned I guess.
