I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota LT Extend cab with a 4.7L
V8. The problem I have been experiencing is at cold startup it is very sluggish at under 1000 rpm as it works its way up to regular Idle. Sometime it will stall out after the 1st crank, then when I try to restart I have to keep it cranking for about 4-5 seconds before it will start. I have only 35000 miles on it, any suggestions on what could be wrong.

Try the simple stuff first. Fuel filter comes to mind.

My dak does kinda the same thing, sometimes it starts on the first try, but I have to crank it for a few seconds. Other times if I crank it for just a moment, it will fire up almost instantly on the second try, and ideas as to what that might be? Fuel filter aswell?

That's what mine does too. (2001 4.7). At first it wouldn't start at all (without putting your foot on the floor) - now it is sluggish starting and has a very rich start up, causing it to stumble under 1000 RPM. It goes back to the dealer on Friday of this week - I have already had the intake gaskets done, MAP sensor and PCV valve replaced. Also had injectors flushed. I'll keep you posted as to what the dealer tries next. (I'm thinking leaking injector - but the dealer says not ....)
