Message: By passing cat will prob. turn on your MIL and you'll need to figure out how to by pass it.
Unless you have a "friend" at the inspection station you'll fail your inspection w/o cats.
Shouldn't make any more noise.

Message: It will definatly sound a little louder and deeper. Your better off installing hi-flow cats or punching out the packing in the factory ones. I have done this on a couple of trucks and passed immisions every time. If you remove the cats completely you'll get screwed at inspection.

Message: My 01 QC 4.7, had three cats, only the precats have fore and afrt sensors. My third main cat didn't have any.
After cutting it off I looked in the end, it has a fine mesh screen across one end!
Definitely louder, but still nice to drive.
It seems, many people think loud is fast.
Have you ever seen a dyno of stock, and then a cat back with the same conditions dyno more than a 1 hp gain on a 4.7, post the link if you have, cause it ain't happening.

Message: When will you people stop thinking a fuel injected engine NEEDS back pressure? The 4.7L engine flourishes with every decrease in back pressure up to the point where you are sucking exhaust out of the engine. This happens only with straight pipes out the back of a non-cat vehicle going around 160MPH. When that happens, a vacuum is created at the rear of the vehicle, sucking gasses out and valves get burned (still-burning fuel/air is exiting the combustion chamber).
A 4-stroke engine (suck, squeeze, bang, blow) expends energy blowing exhaust out of the cylinder. Only one of the strokes creates power. If an engine can work less to pull in air (better intake), compress the fuel-air (correct mixture via a programmer), and blow expended gasses out of the block (free-flowing exhaust), you have MORE POWER.
I have true duals on my 4.7 and would never change back to the stock Y collector.
