Hey dudes, had some fun on the commute home. On a side street leading to the highway there were a bunch of "muscle cars" playing around and thought I would join in. New Cobra, Z28 and an old Fox body 5.0 A little del Sol kept chirping his tires and these V8's kept revving there engine. So I figure I would see what this bad boy could do. 4.7L 5spd, 3.92 LS. I drop it in first at a stop at about 3500 and nice spin, punch it and she just keeps smoking to hi revs and the rear steps out just enough to look sweet. Dropped it at 4000 in 2nd while I was cruising about 20mph and still had plenty o wheelspin, that got that Cobra's attention fast. Couple of thumbs up, really cool. Just put on some V8 badges and clear corners, looks nice. That del Sol wanted to race and man did I school his butt getting on the highway, just nailed it in 3rd and blew right by him as his coffee can and obligatory 2 foot wing, seriously, started its high pitch annoyance. At least he was cool about it, smiled as I grabbed 4th and flew by. I love this truck, its such a showoff. Try doing a 2nd gear drop in an R/T, fuhgettaboutit. The $30 in tire wear was worth it, smiled the whole way home on my 35 mile commute. Dakota's rule. Later

Studs? As in studded tyres. For winter, usually a tall and skinnier than normal tyres that have small knobs of metal sticking out all over them -- kinda like those things on some types of jeans. On ice they work great, but they slip and slide all over dry road..

On some rocky asphalt studded tires might make for some neat looking late night sparkly burnouts. And possibly unremovable marks in the pavement. :D

Yeah us in Texas aren't too concerned with studded tires. On the other hand, worrying about them melting on the street is another thing. Gonna be a hot one...

Yes, Demon-Xanth, they will leave permenant marks on the pavement, specially on hot days. Wont be much left of your wheels though..

Has anyone used the tires that have a colored bead around the outside? Like red or blue? Do they actually leave a colored mark when you burn out?

Yepper, the colored tires are BFG scorchers. And yes they leave a colored mark when you do a burnout.
