Message: I beat a Mustang Cobra once...a true statement other than neglecting to mention it was on a rollback and that "beat" means "pass."

Message: the 98 GT's only had 225 horsepower,u may have him by maybe 40-50 horsepower but he would still beat you if he knew how to shift,mid-high 14's should be the norm for them stock, and I would expect 15's out of the Dak

Message: good job man!!
yes that car could be a mid to high 14 second car at the track in perfect condition, with a good driver.
get over it people.. he beat him on the street where it's not a 14 second car.
and i wouldnt doubt some 14 second times out of that lite-weight genII with those mods.
i ran a 98 GT that a lot of stuff done to it... 3.73 gears, LSD, short shifter, underdrive pulleys, intake, dual exhaust, H-pipe, etc etc. He got beat but it wasnt by much. He was suprised to see a turbocharged V6 under the hood of my truck at that time.
btw, i thought a 98 GT was 260 hp stock??

Message: sad thing is a healthy 5.2 genII with basic bolt-ons would own a lot of stuff on these boards.
... especially one with 3.92 gears in the rear.

Message: I also beat a 5.Slow 5 speed and his was bone stock....by the time we hit 60 he was already at leats a car behind! Funny I had 255/70/15 at the time with open wheel diff. Now i have 255/60/15 with LSD...I could eat one now and maybe with headers I cant hang with a newer GT.....but TRUCKS ARE NEVER SUPPOSSED TO BE FAST....who said so???

Message: Mopar Action clocked a bone-stock 1993 RC 5.2 3:92 auto at 14.9sec. 1/4 mile. With a 25HP Mopar PCM, K&N drop-in, bug deflector at intake tube removed, and shift points tweeked on the "cable button", the "little Dak that could" ran 14.4sec., and in the process beat a '93 Mustang GT 5.0 5-speed that ran in the 15's, and modded lost to a '93 Firebird 275HP 6-speed by one length in the 1/4. What you have to remember is that the Gen II's had the least curb weight (3500 pounds RC) of any V-8 Daks, and power-to-weight is where its at in vehicle performance. Sadly, no more Regular Cabs, no more sub-4000 pound Daks are being produced.

Message: The dakotas had improved some on that year also, the engine lost 10 HP but also gained 15 torque due to the new cam. The 96 dakota gained electronic shift control with the autos which helped them shift better

Message: IMHO, 1992 and 1993 was the high water mark as far a performance was concerned. Dodge never went back to the 1/4" larger inside diameter exhaust manifolds offered those years. You could fine-tune the shift points yourself with the cable button.
