Subject: Will 265's help GC? IP: Logged
Message: I just picked up an '05, with the stock P245's on 16" rims. I don't like the tires, will 265's help with ground clearance?

Message: The 245's are 29.503" tall and the 265's are 30.606" tall so you will gain about .551" of additional ground clearance assuming that both tires were inflated equally and have the same sidewall stiffness.

Message: The guy at my local Discount Tires says he can get a set of BFG AT 265/75/R16's on there, that'll result in ~ 1" improvement in GC - within .2 of the stock '04's. He says the vehicle will accept them ("just did one this morning"), but their online automated tire guide only shows up to 265/70. Should I be suspicious of a tire guy trying to make a $739 sale, or is he right and the truck will handle 265/75's?
Or, does anyone know? (I suppose I should, it's my truck...)

Message: The 265/75 s are approx. 31.5 If you want ground clearance put on a lift. But first wear out your factory tires, It goes fast if you have a heavy foot and play around with it.

Message: 16's are standard on the whole 05 line. On SLT and Laramie 17's are an option. I went with the 16's because I don't like the way the 17's are made -- a chrome plastic thing stuck on an aluminum wheel!
