Subject: inexpensive custom exhaust IP: Logged
Message: I was flipping through my Summit (or JEGS?) and they make their own muffler for about $30. I was thinking of cutting the pipe off right behind the cats and putting in this muffler then running the pipe out infront of the rear tire on the passenger side. I hate the sound my exhaust makes, it sounds like trying to get the last bit of soda out of an empty glass with a straw, only lower pitched. I want a little more agressive sound, but not obnoxious.
This is my first V8 and I want it to sound like it.
Does anyone have another suggestion for a muffler? I don't have a lot of cash to work with, but I want to sound descent. I think that my exhaust may also be part of my slow throttle response. I'll get a better flowing cat a little later.
Any thoughts on any of my ramblings?

Message: You'll find that if you want the high quality stuff like a full Flowmaster or Gibson cat back, you'll be paying a lot of money. They are not cheap.
I've purchased a number of parts over the years with the Summit name on them, and they have always been high quality. I wouldn't be afraid to buy that muffler and install it. For $30, it's a good deal.
Will it be louder? You bet it will. Will you like the sound? Who knows, maybe yes and maybe no. That's strictly up to you.
Will you gain more power and better throttle response? Doubtfull.

Message: Remember one thing when getting your exhaust worked on: Mandrel Bending. A lot of shops just bend their exhaust pipes cheaply and they get the ridges on the inside of the bend. This will impede your flow and hurt any exhaust mod like muffler or high flow cat.
