Subject: safe towing weight IP: Logged
Message: we have a 98 club cab 4X4 with the 5.2, 55,000 miles. is it safe to tow a 6 by 12 enclosed trailer with quads in it? roughly 4,000 lbs.

Message: Safe as long as the weight is distributed properly - If it feels like the trailer is pushing you in the turns, adjust load so more weight is on the tongue.

Message: They say you need 10%-15% of the weight of the trailer on the tongue. This is very important, because if you are too off it could cause you to lose control of the trailer (and guess what, your trailer is hooked to your truck...) I have had this happen, a little light on the tongue and when I would change lanes on the interstate or any higher speeds the trailer would wag behind the truck. At the time I was driving a little madza pick-up. Pucker factor was high...
