Subject: WATER DRIP BY PASSENGER FIREWALL IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 dakota quad, 4.7. On the passenger side inside of the engine compartment, near the top of the firewall, there is a hard black tube that comes out from the firewall, it has a slow drip of water coming from there and I have no clue what it is from or for, been doing it for about two days now, it drips down onto the exhaust and I dont want it to cause rust or some other damage. Any help??? Thanks in advance. Tony

Message: That is the drain for the A/C. It can clog causing your passenger floorboard to turn into a swimming pool. Been using the A/c or defrosters lately? That will do it. There should be a silver aluminum shield over it that directs water away from exhaust. Also pull up the plastic rocker panel along the passenger door jamb and reach under the carpet/foam pad and feel for water. If wet(good chance it is) you should seal around where the plastic tube comes out as water can siphon in. Please post if it was wet or dry.
