Subject: Exhaust Questions IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know if a cat back system from the 97-up trucks will fit on earlier model trucks? I am asking because flowmaster and several other manufacturers do not make cat back kits for my 95 Dakota but they do for newer versions. Well the kits all have a 3" tailpipe which is what I want and it would be cheaper than having custom exhaust done. Basically will the 97-99 flowmaster kits work on a 95 Dakota?

Message: go to a custom shop, they should be able to fit/bend the pipes safely and give you a good muffler.

Message: I agree with "bassman" I you have a certain muffler in mind. Buy it and take it down to muffler shop. Should't take them but 15 minutes to cut, bend, and weld up your new cat back system. I bought a new cat, flowmaster, and had them bend new pipe for it all. Took them 20 minutes for the whole job.

Message: Well the problem is the shops around here want upwards of $400 for what I want. I want a basic system. Single tailpipe- 3" diameter exiting at the stock location with a single in/out 3" flowmaster. I can get a 97-up flowmaster kit for $229 and weld it myself. It has a 3" in/out muffler with 3" tail.
