Message: I have a 93 and mine was doing the same thing. Then it just died and wouldn't start at all.So I figured fuel pump cuz I had no fuel pres.So I replace it.Wrong!!!! I got pissed and started taking the loom off the wires from the relay box to trace wires, when there it was.A wire connector was bad and that connector went from one wire to 3 wires and it was for the fuel pump and other stuff..cleaned it up and put back together and it fired..Good luck

Message: yah i got it started.. it started up fine the very next day.. still running very ruff.. new cap, rotor. 2 new injectors. it is very wierd runs like crap then all of a sudden it kicks in and runs like a champ. like its not getting fuel or timming. do you guys think a bad wire would mess it up on the low rpms. and be fine in the upper rpms? cause after 3000rpm it seems to go good.. but below that it has nothing like bogging out.. and sometimes its bad till almost 4000rpm..
anyhelp would be great

I've heard that the idle control valve or motor, sensor or something in the throttle body gets caked over with gunk and causes the symptoms you are describing.
A Dodge mechanic with 23 years experience at the same Dealer told me this, he said with lower mileage trucks, he just cleans the thing, but with older trucks(150k+ miles)he replaces it.
I'm sorry I can't remember what the name of the device is called, I just totally forgot.
It is in the throttle body, I remember looking at it on my 99 Dakota 5.2L.
