Subject: Changing Oxygen Sensors IP: Logged
Message: I have had one of my dash lights on for some time and the code signifies it is one of the O2
sensors. I think it is the right rear.
Is it a big job to change that out?

Message: I've got a 1997 that only has one catalytic converter and had to replace an O2 sensor...
As long as you can get a wrench on the sensor it shouldn't be to hard. Only thing is they rust in the exhaust pretty good sometimes and it takes a bit to get them out... Letting it soak with penatrating oil will help. It is also good to put some anti-seize compound on the new sensor threads so it will be easier to take out if you ever have to replace it again.

Message: Changing the sensor is pretty easy. Spray PB Blaster on it 2-3 times a day for about a week. Then slip a box wrench on it and unscrew it. Pretty easy.
However, there are a lot of things that can give you the same code. Even something as simple as a stuck/dirty injector. So if you replace the sensor and clear the codes, and the light is still on, don't be too surprised.

Message: It's a really easy job. Just unhook the sensor and make sure you get the right sized wrench. You might need a helper bar for more leverage if it is rusted on real good.
