I read this post all the time, now I'm looking for advice. I'm looking at a 99 Dakota Sport CC,5.2magnum,auto 2wd,114k,body pretty good,$5500.
Only had a minute to look at it idling on the dealer's lot, oil pressure just under 40#,maybe 30-35 on factory gauge. Is this a concern? I've had great luck with my 92 Dak. 206k.

Hey don't worry one bit about that pressure gauge.
From the sound of it I have the exact truck as you are looking at and I have 124000 miles and at idle my gauge is in the same place. I have no problems with the truck at all. When your moving the gauge goes up to where I would call normal. This is an electric gauge in these trucks and they don't always read accruate. Buy the truck that sounds pretty cheap to me I actually hope mine is worth more than that...

Thanks ldk. Seems like I read a lot about oil pressure problems, so I wondered... I went back and drove the truck, pressure ran about 50# down the road. I'll probably drag my feet too long and miss this one. Found another one in town for $6000, may have to look at that one too, they both are way below book.

I'd be more worried about the ball joints, IMO.
I have a 99 SLT CC 5.2L - just did all 4 of mine, damn were they shot after 80,000+ miles.

I personally would not buy this truck. Mines got 124,000 miles on it and it's had some serious issues. Brakes are the worst. I'm never buying dodge again!! Anything but them.

see everyone has their own opinoin
My 99 5.2 has 125000 miles on it and all I put in it are gas and change the oil.
I have yet the original brakes front and rear.
And I pull various things also.
Its all in the care and up keep.
Not making fun of the person above me, I do know there are lemons out there,
or maybe ive just been lucky?
