 Subject: Error codes? #82, 83 ?

I have an 02' dakota R/T and my abs light keeps blinking and beeping. Error codes? #82, 83,are what comes up,(Number of tone ring teeth out of range(82)) and #83 is (wheel speed out of range) . So I changed the rear Diff sensor thinking that would fix it... Wrong I still get my abs light and it is anoying the crap out of me. ANY HELP would be awsome.... the dealer is backed up 2 weeks and any else I go to says that they cannot clear the codes.... -Lee

It's hard to do without a computer to clear the codes but according to alldata your supposed to check the "electronic brake control module" aka CAB(controller antilock brakes) to make sure that the axle ratio matches up to what it's programmed for. If these 2 parameters match up it says to replace the CAB. Hope this helps! granted that controller probably cost an and a leg to arbitrarily replace

Just about any shop should be able to clear the codes. With todays technology in vehicles in order to keep a shop going you almost have to have some form of computer. Another way to clear the codes is disconnect the battery for 10+ sec. but that may no longer work on newer vehicles, i'm not sure. I'm the Service Writer for a small local shop and we have all sorts of fun computer toys and AllData that helps a lot. Sorry I'm not at work to do anymore research just thought i'd leave this little tid bit. One more thing about the CAB is it's possible for some reason it thinks the axle ratio has changed and the CAB is reprogramable via a computer. I'll check into it more at work tomorrow to see how much code 82 and 83 correlate with each other.
