ive got a couple questions
What kind of gas mileage should i expect out of one if i keep my foot out of the gas?

How long do the motors last?

Would insurance be rediculously high on a 17 year with a clear history?

Are they as fast as people say they are?

only thing i disagree with answer man on is how long they last. completely stock i have seen some with 175,000+ with regular maintenence and basic stuff like that. but like i said, that was stock and no mods. a stock RT will be in the 15 sec range in the 1/4. fast? depends on what your definition of fast is, i suppose. i would say it is something to be respected on the street in stock form, and with some mods and a good driver, you're looking at a very nice machine with about 13 mpg, which isn't very good but it is a v8. supercharger or turbo plus mods and you're looking at a speed demon with bad mileage. you just have to pick and chose your options until you meet perfomance, mileage, etc. to what you're willing.

I'm averaging about 11.5 mpg right now with the winter blend of gas thats around here (MN), and as dakkid said, the engines are very reliableif maintained. The 360 design has been around for close to 50 years, and has proved itself a strong long lasting motor. Its just the other parts of the truck that you would have to worry about (transmission, balljoints, ect.) Insurance is pretty high, I just recently turned 18 and its ~2800/year for me with a 500 deductable and a clean record.
