I have an 04 2wd CC dakota. We got almost 3 feet of snow in a 2 week period last month. I didn't get stuck once, even though I park on the street and get plowed in when the trucks come down the road. I would have gotten stuck if I didn't have posi. The limited slip really helps. The truck still slides a bit but it's very perdicitable and never had any close calls. I don't even keep any weight in the back. If you have 2wd just make sure its got a posi and you should be fine.

99 R/T in Minnesota here. A good set of snow tires and a few bags of sand in the back is all you need. My truck is daily driven and I have never had a problem getting stuck before.

I have A 4x4 but can run in 2wd with no prob in the snow. after all it comes down to know the limits of your truck. I know with the ranger I owned. didnt matter what I did (weight in the bed snow tires anything) the truck would just spin all over the place. when it came down to it that 95 ranger was just to light. on plowed roads shouldnt have a prob but in areas with alot of snow I wouldnt attempt trying to go on those roads.

so put weight in the bed get a good snow or AT tires and just go slow after all its not a 4x4 lol. but even people with 4x4 think they can go fast on slick surfaces beings they have a 4x4 and then crash and always say. I dont know what happened. I had it in 4wd lol.

i live in Iowa and drive a 99 rc R/T have stock goodyears that are worn past the legal 2/32nds of an inch in the rear and i can still get around in the snow. VERY slow but possible. just got my new Kumho ecsta 711's in tonight so ill have those mounted and see how they do. I doubt very well though because there a summer only tire. oh well helluva lot better than stockers when its warm so its worth it

Moved to Maine for a couple years with a 2wd 318 5 speed. Was worried about snow, but the ol dak pulled right on through. I could follow my girlfriends Ford F150 4x4 just about anywhere.
Its all about tires, and driving technique.
I didnt haul any sand the first year, and very little the second year(cause of ice storms)

I'd imagine truck tires would do perty good in general for that kinda stuff. I know my stock ones do. Slowing down being the obvious way to drive in snow, sometimes you just gotta spin and slide on purpose for fun! =)

Had about 12 inches here 2 weeks ago. I went out and got 16-4x8x16 solids and lined them up across the bed between the rear wheels. Stand them up on the sides and put the other 4 behind the wheels inside the tailgate. Still had room to cart the snowblower around. Gas milage really dropped though.

I get around great. Yes the tires do make a big difference. The truck came with those worthless goodyear st things and I had those off in no time and on a trailer and have been running multi-mile GTR's on all four ever since, its nice to have that traction in the front for stopping even though its only 2wd. I do put in about 6 sand bags and that makes a big difference also, since I live in the sticks on a drifting gravel road.
The rule always stands, a truck with two wheel drive can go further than a 4wd truck in 2wd.

Upstate NY here. I take off my summer 275/50/17's and put on 235/70/15 Blizzacks and add a few hundred pounds of sand. It gets me around fine about 95% of the time. The other 5% I take the wife's Grand Cherokee. Mine stops and turns better than hers though. The right tires make all the difference.
