not to burst your bubbles , but my dad has an 01' gt, auto, stock, and i have a 97 dak 5.2L, auto with exhaust and an intake. and there is no way in hell that i would be able to keep up with him or even beat him.

up soon enough. He also has a 5spd. Its

You all are a very biased group of people . . Dak lovers are just that, Dak lovers, everything else sucks unless you are a TRUE car enthusiast which most of you are not. Most are just "What I got is best" kind of people. Whatever . . All I can say is unless you got a supercharger or a NOS kit knocking a second or so off your time you aint holding with any new 00'+GT. And if you do then you put more way more money in than they did cause a new well equipped Dak and a new GT are about the same price. Be aware that the new 03' Cobra is the fastest car out there right now . . . the 03' Cobra and the Corvette Z06's are running 12.50 - 12.60 all day long. Don't get spanked!!! Remember boys . . . we own TRUCKS.

i agree. I am a true car/truck lover, i know the
limits, but who says you cant push them? Ill
probably lose against that stang but it doesn't
hurt to try. You only get faster racing people
faster than you, its alot like working out, train
with people stronger than you to make
progress.
Anyways you can always use the excuse I
once used after losing, "hey, can we do that
one again? I had my emergency brake on!"

I think that a Slightly modified Dak will beat a 5.0L stang I have a freind with a 5.0L and he raced a 4.7L and the 4.7L got 15.0sec 1/4 the 5.0L got high 14's so if you can get traction and do a few things to it i think that it would beat it easy. other than that it would be all driver

I race both an '00 and a '02 GT 5 speed bone stock. The '00 is slightly faster in the 1/4 (13.95 @ 99.xx). I guess the '02 just hasn't broke in entirely yet. It'll still run 13.98's all day long though (Commerce, GA).

Rob W. remember though on the 87-93 fox bodies, they have a real light ass end too... so they suffer from loss of traction also. Not quite as much as a pickup truck but the factor is there as well.
I have a lightly modded 00 R/T and my dad has a 92 LX 5.0 5-speed and ill say that I like driving that mustang just about as much as I do my truck.
Its all about who likes what brands... People who hate fords mysteriously always go alittle bit faster than a mustang in there story. Same goes with people who hate chevys... People who hate chevys claim camaro's only pull in low 14's, and then the other end of the spectrum you have chevy lovers who claim they can get stock Z28's to run high 12's...
I personally think every last one of those people are idiots. Personally I dislike Corvettes, I dont like the way the C5 body looks, and I think they're over rated... but im not going to deny the fact that they're currently one of the quickest american production cars out at the present.

thats my personal best anyway...i have owned a lot of cars in my 20 years, most of them beaters, but i am not biased towards any brand...i like beating all cars, and i dont mind getting beaten by any american car...as long as the driver isnt an ass about it...i do love the 'vette, but its too expensive...i would just as soon put $3500 into a z28 or ss and hand a c5 its ass in a bag.

Question for everyone, Me and this Stang have been racing for a while its a 98 gt and i have a 5.2 99 dakota with mopar pcm flows airaid intake thats about it i was wonderin what would it take for me to beat him cause he still beats me?
M1 50mm, or 52 mm tb combination any suggestions

BIG59 i forgot to mention that the 93 5.0L had a 900 rpm stall converter. he got the tranny out of a truck but since then the tranny blew and he has a winzer 351 block and is building it out and putting a raccing tranny in it

I have a 99 Dakota 4x4 5.2L, 5 speed with 40 series flowmaster straight out, k&n fipk, 180 deg stat,and a soon to be installed f&b ported TB.
I also have a stock 93 mustang 5.0L 5 speed.
Now, this is simple.. The stang is faster than the dakota!!I have raced many. I have had buddies witness it!!
If I had a RT or a 2wd 5.2L, with a bunch of mod's done, then I maybe in the area for some competition for the stang.
Mustangs are a very light, and somewhat fast sports car, Dakotas are a fast truck, but the bottom line is(remember I own both) the stang would win!!
Just for conversation...If you put the same mods on both a dakota and a mustang...Who would be crossing the line first??
