Subject: '93 5.2L Trans. Problem IP: Logged
Message: My 5.2L RWD /w 46RH auto trans. stays in 3rd gear (w/o shifting into overdrive) occasionally for up to 1/4 - 3/8 mile. It always eventually shifts and sometimes shifts perfectly normal. Any ideas where to look to solve this problem? Bad speed sensor possibly? Otherwise, the transmission operates flawlessly including converter lock-up. Help!

Message: I once had a '92 5.2 auto. It would "act up" like you described, but very randomly. It would usually happen before the engine warmed up. I would usually just pull off the road, turn the ignition off, then restart the engine. That usually did the trick. Change your tranny fluid every 36-40K miles.

Message: Also try to pull out your output speed sensor and clean any debris off the tip because it is magnetic and will sometimes cause a no shift from metalic junk.
