Which model year?? CC OR RC?? What part of country?? For RC, depending on loation 14.8-15.8 For CC Depending on location 15.2-16.0

A few people auto-x their R/T's and can hang with most of the cars out there.

I have no idea what rc and cc mean. So i'm just talkin about the 240 horse or whatever it is, 5.9 litre.

Those times don't seem to fast but I guess the horrible horsepower per litre makes it a sinch to upgrade your power and times.

Before you judge whether the times are slow or not, remember that this is a TRUCK that weighs around 4000lbs that has to be pushed down the 1/4. This isn't some car built for performance. It is using the exact same engine the Ram uses with no mods done to it. Personally I don't think a 15 sec time is that bad for a normally asperated truck. No other facotry produced truck without a SC can compete with the Dak R/T.

You will have no proble with a Tundra. The Tundra is heavier and their V-8 is smaller and mkaes less power.

I see your point, knew it before, but now its at the front of my head :)

I think it will be easier to make the dak go faster than my neon without forcing induction. I do like the superchargers for daks though. stock neon engine with intercooled turbo from haun runs low 13's and i'd assume the dak would be high 13's or low 14's?

Anyways
love the R/T no matter what. Awesome truck. Props to all of you that own one. I shall someday as well.

FIrst time at the track a couple weeks ago I ran 15.1, 14.9, and 15.0 at a really humid track w/ poor traction....another R/T guy w/ more mods than me like heads & cam work who ran a 15.1 and another guy who looked like he had more experience racing got a 14.4 w/ head and cam work. Good track conditions I could probably get low 14's maybe high 13's.

High perfoprmance Mopar tested a 98 CC that ran a 15.1 pure stock at a real track in not the greatest conditions. It was even their first try with the truck. I've heard of pure stock CC's hitting the 14's and lots of pure stock RC's getting mid 14's. So people don't get those times, and end up with a lot of mods before they give their stock truck a chance at them. I'd still say 14.9 for a RC is about average and 15.2 for a CC.

hey would a 5.2 Jeep GC from the mid 90s be able to to hang with an R/T?? My moms (94 FT 4wd)is pretty powerful better traction and lighter...what do they run??

The fastest Jeep ever, the 98 5.9 Limited is a little slower then a CC R/T (15.4-15.7), not bad for a great off road, AWD. I don't think the Jeep is lighter then a 2wd Dakota, the older Grand Cherokees were probably lighter then a QC 4x4 Dakota, but the redesigned Jeeps have put on some more weight and they are probably pretty close in weight to a Quad Cab.

my reg. cab 99 r/t with 50k miles ran a 14.86 in the 1/4. this was stock when i first got it. wait, it had a throttle body spacer (which I threw out) so that must have been it... I prolly would have run a 15.5 without it. ( that was a joke.)

I've personally watched a Jeep GC Limited run a 15.4 bone stock with a novice driver. A better driver behind the wheel, and low 15's were easily reachable. The woman driving coudl only get a best of 2.3 60' time even with the AWD. She was afraid to load the TC at the line to bring up the RPMs for launch.

I spent a lot of time over at www.jeepsunlimited.com as I traded in my Grand Cherokee for a Dakota and I never heard of a pure stock jeep running anything better then what you said a 15.4. It doesn't take anything but a novice to launch one of those things. Then I personally test drove 3 of them before buying my Dakota, no way they were anywhere close to the RC, but they sure cost more! I still think I'll get one as my 3rd car, I can't think of anything better. I need back doors and AWD for the winter. I'd go with a WRX but in a few years when I'm ready to buy I think a 98 Jeep will be much less then a 2002 Subie, and I can take the jeep hunting. My Dakota did do fine hunting this year but I filled my tag the second week when there was only a few inches of snow in the mountains.

what a coincidence (sp?)! i also work in a tire shop.

i didnt do a before and after, but it didnt make that much of a differance. im running 255/35/20 michelin XZT/Z4's (that i got for free hehehe)

going with a bigger rim usually slows you down, because of the added unsprong weight. im on billet aluminum rims and small tires, so the weight is about the same as my stock 15" rims and tires.
i have heard the 17" R/T wheels are heavy, and i dont even want to know what the 20's weigh. expecially with a 275/45/20.

i did notice a little more torque because the 35 series tire brings my stock 3.55 gears to 3.64's, but its nothing to brag about

At the Mopar Shootout Southwest race held last month in Tucson - we had a fine selection of various wheels and tires just "laying around". I took my stock 15" wheel and tire, my 17" R/T wheel and tire as well as a new 20" replica R/T wheel and tire over to the scales....

15" wheel and tire assembly weighed 48 lbs
17" wheel and tire assembly weighed 62 lbs
20" wheel and tire assembly weighed 72 lbs

I wish I would have weighed my 15" wheel with an ET Street tire mounted on it.... they feel like they are quite a bit lighter than the regular street tires. Anybody know the weight difference for those?
