Message: My 2000 Dakota (4.7L - 4x4) Has transmission issues. If I have to come to a stop too fast, it SLAMS into a high gear and stays there. Taking off from a stoplight or such, it's stuck in 3rd or OD. Service engine light comes on. Then get home shut it off and one hour later start it up and it works fine. Engine light on still though. I've had the problem fixed three or four times (under warranty) now warranty is up. Concerned about the slamming part doing damage. Anyone know if there is a permanent fix for this problem?

Message: How many miles, and what did they fix ? With that kind of history, you might try bringing it to the dealer again and explaining its never been fixed correctly.

Message: Take it back to the dealer & have them fix it properly! I had the same problem. They said it was my sensors. Dodge warrenties there parts & labor for 1 year. If you don't get on them, you'll be doing what I'm doing now....rebuilding my transmission. Also! if you've takeen it in for the same problem (pending what state your in)more than 3 times, your covered under the lemon law. Make sure though you hold a record for everytime you brought it in.
