Subject: Run in with a ford IP: Logged
Message: Yeah that is right, just got home from work and I had a nice run in with a ford pick-up. No it isn't a lightning like you might all be thinking it was a full sized dually, I'm guessing it was model year 2004 because it looked brand new.
Anyways, I'm driving down the freeway doing a brisk 120km/h when I see a full size merging on and nothing but an empty hill in front of us. Right away I'm thinking time for a little pull and see if he plays. Before I could even blip the throttle he was on it and I could tell from the puff of black smoke from the exhaust that he was ready to roll. He's merging probably at about 105km/h and climbing fast so I slow ever so slightly to give him some room figuring I would pull up before he punched it. We were rolling at about 117km/h when we matched acceleration, I was approaching 120km/h at the bottom of a slight incline maybe something like 4% or so.
So we both rocket off up the hill, with his positive momentum he quickly jumps ahead by a truck length but I begin to make up that gap fairly early on. I'd say I was on his bumper at about 125km/h maybe more but I wasn't paying the speedo too much attention. We appraoch a part of the hill which gets slightly steeper not much but it is noticeable, he starts to pull ahead again at this point we are probably going about 130km/h. His turbo is probably kicking some ass at this point but not for long as we accelerate through 140km/h I start to pull up on him and by close to 150km/h I'm at his driver side door.
We have reached the top of the hill and start coming into some traffic so I back off the throttle and tap the breaks gently to bring the beast back down, I let him pull in front and we carry on our way.
Very friendly little hill climb, I know it isn't a kill story but it was definately fun and I'm sure he is telling all his buddies how he had a little run in with a dodge.

Message: Dakota's have no problems on hills against many full size trucks. I've found that out :-)
Last month I pulled a few trucks going up some hills to Flagstaff. I had a Polaris ATV in my bed and STILL got the advantage somehow.
